How to connect to your Spirit Guides?

Over the years, I have noticed that very often I will connect over and over to a similar experience, topic, theme, etc when working with clients and that these experiences come in a 'cluster'. For example, there were a few weeks last year where over 50% of my clients were wanting to connect with a loved one in the Spirit world who was a member of the church and/or very religious. During this time period, I was communicating on behalf of priests, pastors, reverends etc and sharing highly specific and evidential messages for their loved ones. I also had two pastors book readings with me during this time as well. It was incredibly uncanny for this to happen all during a short time period. Shortly after, I had an incredible transcendental meditation experience in which I felt the presence and love of none other than Jesus. Could those client readings before have been preparing me for this incredible experience? I believe so!

Lately, I am experiencing another 'cluster' topic - Spirit Guides. I believe that every time I connect to a client's energy in a reading that their Spirit Guides are there. I believe they act as a go-between, working between myself and my client. Sometimes, those Spirit Guides will reveal themselves to me and whenever this happens, I always trust this is because either the client had set the intention to learn more about their Spirit Guides in our session or they have been curious about the topic in general. Also perhaps that their Guides know it's time to initiate more personal contact with them.

The Fourth Wall

A few years ago, I explored this topic on the Soul Rising Podcast, with my co-host Erin. I initiated contact with my Spirit Guides soon after and was so excited with how eager they were to come through, show themselves to me and communicate. It was as if they were always listening (they are!) and just waiting for me to welcome them in. It reminds me a bit of the concept of the 4th wall in television. The 4th wall is the invisible, imaginary wall that separates actors from the audience. To break the 4th wall would be for the actor to acknowledge the presence of the audience by making eye contact. In my very favourite comfort show 'The Office" this happens often. Acknowledging my Spirit Guides felt exactly like this. For me, the actor, to suddenly become aware and acknowledge the audience,Spirit Guides, around. In fact, this is a great analogy for all of the Spirit World - the Archangels, Spirit guides , Source Creator and our loved ones.

How to connect to your Spirit Guides

So now for the good stuff. How do you initiate contact with your own Spirit Guides?

What works really well is for you to be in a place of relaxation and stillness as this allows us to be a bit more perceptive to our inner world and clairsenses. And this in turn, helps us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience and trust in it.

Once you've got yourself feeling relaxed and open, ask outloud or in your mind for your Spirit Guides to please come forward in ways that you can perceive them. You can get specific. They will be happy to oblige! For example, What do you look like? What would you like me to call you? "How can I recognize when you are making contact with me?

I have found that they like to show you what they look like and will give you a name to call them because having this information about them allows you to visualize and/or call for them when you want to connect.

The Law of Free Will

It's important to know that your Spirit Guides are connected to you at a Soul level. They would have chosen your life's experiences carefully with you before you arrived here in this life as you. Many times, I have had a clients Spirit Guides tell me that they have lived lifetimes as humans with the people they now guide from the other side. They walk with you through your life and are always there to help support you and bring you comfort. Earth operates on the law of free will. This means that ultimately you are in control of the choices you make and that your Spirit Guides cannot interfere with those choices for the most part. However, if you are steering down the wrong path, they will try to make their presence known to you in any way they can.

Ways in which your Spirit Guides try to grab your attention

Here are the most common ways your Guides are trying to get your attention:

• angel/repeating numbers
• a gut feeling that you should or should not do something
• placing a person in your path that says/does the exact thing you need to hear (think angels in disguise!)
• coming forward to you in your dreams
• songs
• meaningful coincidences (you are thinking of something and then you see or hear that exact thing or something related to it)

You are never alone in this life. Your Spirit Guides walk step by step beside you. Sending you strength and love. They are quite literally your lifelong cheerleaders and biggest fans and they want nothing more than to see you happy and aligned. I mean, they did sign up for that!
